WHY IS IT CALLED NUBIAN CHIC?
Nubians are an indigenous group who inhabit the place called Nubia, now sudan and southern Egypt. They were a strong people, who eventually were taken over by Egypt. I named this site after them because, contrary to many beliefs, they had many strong queens who lead their people successfully.They had queens who did not sit around, but instead they had icons.
These females, icons like queen Amanishakheto were strong, black, warriors. I do not call this site Nubian so that we can observe their customs, nor to be ignorant and call all blacks nubians, but to lead an example that there are strong black african queens in history. Also my readers can understand that they too can be like, or even better than, a nubian queen.
Nubian Chic Purpose
Nubian Chic is an innovated blog that sets a vision to inspire and empower growth in the community. Nubian Chic was created to spark up political, fashionable, and relatable conversations that society may neglect. There's always engaging and motivating things offered.
Creator and Founder of NC, Blessing, saw a need in the environment. Many young girls were (and still are) being subjects to the oppression of depression and insecurities. Growing up, I did not see many girls who looked like me on T.V or in magazines, creating low self-esteem about my melanin. Luckily, I came to love who and what I am, now I wish the same thing for so many growing ladies. Not only for those in the colored skin.
The purpose, and philosophy, of Nubian Chic, is to grow minds. There are many involving conversations and pieces on this blog. Something to inspire, innovate, and create. Subscribe to Nubian Chic so that you never miss creative content!
